There are multiple types of communication skills that a software engineer needs to have:

1. Interpersonal communication

2. Written communication

3. Software design and coding documentation

These are just a few.  If you are concerned about your communication skills I would ask your manager, HR or trusted peers to give you valuable and honest feedback.
