What are the best resources – books/online – for software engineering managers/tech leads?

Honestly, there are not that many great resources available for engineering managers.  Which in my opinion, is why so many new engineering managers struggle or are not as successful as they can be.

I found the self-published book by Oren Ellenbogen called, “Leading Snowflakes” to be a good resource.  He also puts out a really good weekly email of good relevant content.  You can find his book here: The Engineering Manager Handbook   and his weekly email list here: A free weekly email, for busy people who care about people, culture and leadership.

Here is a Slideshare link to the slides I use in one of my Engineering Manager Workshops at General Assembly: Managing Engineering Teams

Of course the answers by Anonymous in this thread are also goo resources.

Feel free to reach out to me if you have any specific advice; I will be happy to help if I can.
